OTTAWA, Kan. - The Rogers State women's soccer team was unable to earn a win on Friday afternoon, falling 2-1 to Ottawa University at Bank Field.
The Braves got on the scoreboard first, scoring in the 29th minute of play. Amanda Tabott fired a shot from 35-yards out past Hillcat goalkeeper Chelsea McMullin to take a 1-0 lead.
The Braves clung to the one-goal lead at intermission. RSU managed just one shot in the opening half while OU took nine, four of them on goal.
OU extended their lead in the 60th minute with a goal by Kristi French.
The Hillcats battled back in the 80th minute, cutting the Braves lead in half when junior Shereen Clarke drilled a penalty kick past OU goalkeeper Lauren Peil.
RSU was unable to get the equalizer, managing just four shots on goal. McMullin suffers the loss in goal, making eight saves.
The Hillcats will open Sooner Athletic Conference play on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 28th as they travel to Southern Nazarene University. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
