Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 7 Bison Bounce Hillcats, 82-67

SHAWNEE, Okla. – No. 7 Oklahoma Baptist snapped the Rogers State men's basketball team's three-game winning streak with an 82-67 win at Noble Complex on Saturday night.

RSU trailed 12-8, five minutes into the game before the Bison spurred an 8-0 run. Senior Matt Kellogg halted the run with two made free throws but the Bison didn't relinquish the lead.  RSU cut the lead to nine with a trey by Kellogg with less than nine minutes to play in the half.  The Bison took a 14-point lead with a 6-0 run right before the break. However, a bucket from long distance by senior John Boyd cut OBU's lead 43-32 at intermission. OBU senior Kevin Swinton poured in 14 first half points to lead all scorers.

The Hillcats tried to battle their way back into the game in the second half. Kellogg hit a jumper from the charity strip to cut OBU's lead to six points with 14 minutes to play. Nevertheless, that was as close as RSU would get to the lead. The Bison countered with a 6-0 run and led by double figures the rest of the way.

Boyd led the Hillcats in scoring with 18 points. Chris Francis tallied 13 points and Kellogg rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 points.

Swinton finished with 25 points, leading the Bison in scoring. OBU edged the Hillcats on the boards 34-29.

Rogers State (8-7, 4-4) will return to the friendly confines of the Claremore Expo on Thursday night as they host Lubbock Christian at 8 p.m. The game will be carried on RSU Radio 91.3 and on RSU Public Television.
