CLAREMORE, OKLA. – The first day of October along with the first week of conference play did not treat the Rogers State Hillcats well as Lubbock Christian came away with a 5-0 victory Saturday at Soldier Field.
The Chaparrals' Billy Forbes recorded a hat trick in the opening stanza over a course of six minutes. Forbes first goal came in the 32nd minute on a counter attack as Jorge Martinez slotted the ball to Forbes and the junior forward went back post from 12 yards out.
Three minutes later Forbes struck again as he gained the ball at the top of the box from Quinton Jackson, turned to his left and hammered home a shot just under the crossbar to put LCU up 2-0 in the 35th minute. Then in the 38th minute Nick Gorrie volleyed the ball past the Hillcat defense allowing Forbes to sneak in and slot the ball past goalkeeper Jeremy Swift.
LCU struck again in the second half in the 67th minute mark on a strike by Quinton Jackson from 18 yards out. The final goal of the afternoon came on an apparent cross by Adam Goodnight that snuck in the back post from 30 yards out giving the Chaparrals the 5-0 final.
Hunter Ganze pitched the shutout for the Chaps in 87 minutes of play recording three saves.
Swift got the start for the Hillcats giving up three goals while recording three saves in the first half. Nathan Inger came in relief in the second half registering one save and allowing two goals.
