Hillcat Women Blitz Lady Bison 80-63

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's basketball team completed the regular season sweep over Oklahoma Baptist on Monday evening as it blasted the Lady Bison, 80-63, at the Claremore Expo.

Despite starting slow out of the gates, RSU quietly built an 11-points advantage in the first ten minutes of play.  The Lady Bison bounced back with a 15-4 run, capped off by a pair of made free throws by Bridget Reynolds, that tied the score 23-23 with less than four to play in the half. Criner halted OBU's run with a 15-foot jumper from the right side that ignited a 13-0 stretch. Froese ended the streak with back-to-back layups both dished to her by Sasha Barnes. RSU took a 36-25 lead into intermission.

OBU opened the second stanza with consecutive buckets that cut the Hillcats lead to seven points. The Cats answered with a 7-0 run and led by double-digits until the 7:22 mark when Brenna Burnett sunk a pair of free throws to cut RSU's lead to nine. Hunter Peterson and Andrea Miles answered with back-to-back treys to make it 69-53, and RSU led by double-digits the rest of the way.

Sophomore Logan Froese and Junior Angie Criner paced the Cats with 16 points apiece. Froese chipped in 10 boards as she earned her fourth double-double of the season. The Claremore, Okla. native was six of seven from the floor with two steals and one assist.

Candice Stewart added 13 points and Peterson poured in 11 points. Cortney Crockett rounded out the group with 10 points while dishing out seven assists.

Coach Amy Williams' squad won the battle on the boards as they out-rebounded the Lady Bison, 45-28. The Cats shot 50 percent from the field and 59 percent from the charity stripe.

OBU was led in scoring Bridget Reynolds and Gabriell Mattox who each contributed a game-high 18 points. The Lady Bison shot 36 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw stripe.

Rogers State (19-8, 13-7) will complete the regular season with a road trip to West Texas. The Hillcat first stop will be Plainview, Texas as they will face Wayland Baptist on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. RSU will conclude the trip at Lubbock Christian on Saturday with a tip-time of 1 p.m. The games will be broadcast live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
