Hillcats Tie Lady Chaps, 1-1

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Rogers State women's soccer team battled Lubbock Christian to a 1-1 draw on Thursday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas.

In the 69th minute Taylor Hallford served the ball into the box, creating a scramble. The Lady Chaps defense tried to clear the ball but it landed at the feet of Rachel Coen standing at the top of the box. Coen blast the ball back post to give the Cats the lead.

RSU's advantage was short-lived as the Chaps earned the equalizer in the 72nd minute. Allison Brinson and Brooke Wendl passed the ball down the field to Jessica Bailey who fired the ball in the back of the net.

Neither team was able to earn the equalizer in regulation, sending the game into overtime. The Chaps outshot the Hillcats in overtime but RSU keeper Jordan Harris made some big saves to keep the game knotted at 1-1. Harris, a junior from Claremore, Okla., made four saves in the contest while allowing one goal.

Rogers State (6-3-1, 1-2-1) will return to action in West Texas on Saturday as they take on Wayland Baptist in Plainview at 11 a.m.
