Hillcats Register Scoreless Draw Against Lady Bison

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team battled Sooner Athletic Conference foe Oklahoma Baptist to a scoreless draw at Soldier Field on Tuesday night in Claremore.

With 25 minutes to play in the first half, Paula Vicenzo hit back-to-back shots for OBU but RSU goalkeeper Jordan Harris made a diving save and her second shot went just wide to keep the game scoreless.

Minutes later, Veronica Subu gave the Hillcats their first good opportunity as she fired a shot just above the cross bar. OBU goalkeeper Shannon Griffith saved a second shot from Subu with 10 minutes to play in the half off an indirect free kick.

The Lady Bison outshot the Hillcats 12-10 in the first stanza, putting six shots on frame while RSU managed four shots on goal.

However, RSU owned the second half as it outshot the Lady Bison 11-1. OBU earned their lone shot of the half with 11 minutes to play as Ailee Preston shot the ball wide of the goal.

With neither team finding the back of the net, the game was forced into overtime and Harris came up big in in the first three minutes of extra time as she made a diving save, kicking the ball away off a shot by Vicenzo. OBU tallied seven shots in the first overtime period as the Cats were held without a shot.

In the second overtime period, there was a scramble in the box and freshman Taylor Hallford found the ball at her feet with a wide open goal but her shot went just wide. It proved to be the Cats best opportunity during overtime as the game ended in a tie.

Harris registered the shutout in goal as she made 11 saves on the day for RSU. Griffith also had a big game, tallying 10 saves for the Lady Bison.

Rogers State (11-3-2, 3-2-2) will round out the regular season on Friday as the Cats host St. Gregory's at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
