Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hillcats Battle Evangels to 1-1 Draw

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Despite firing 11 shots on frame in 110 minutes of play, the Rogers State men's soccer team was unable to find the game-winning goal as the Cats settled for a 1-1 result against Mid-America Christian on Friday night at Soldier Field.

The Hillcats blast 32 shots in the game and had several opportunities to earn the game winner on Friday night. However MACU earned its chances as well, posting 20 shots with 10 of them on target.

After a scoreless draw in the first stanza the Hillcats took the lead in the 63rd minute as Necas Collins converted a penalty kick. The Kingston, Jamaica native left no doubt as he buried it in the right corner.

The RSU lead was short-lived as the Evangels continued to test the RSU defense and earned the equalizer in the 77th minute. A miscommunication with the RSU back line led to Raphael Bonelle intercepting the ball and passing it past the keeper to knot the game 1-1.

The Cats had the best opportunities in extra time as they out-shot the Evangels 8-3. Both team's goalkeepers played the complete 110 minutes, MACU goalkeeper Tyler McIntosh registered 10 saves while RSU keeper Nathan Inger made seven saves.

Rogers State (5-6-1, 1-1) will take a road trip to West Texas next week as the Cats play Lubbock Christian on Thursday at 4 p.m. and Wayland Baptist on Saturday at 1 p.m.
