LUBBOCK, Texas- The Rogers State men's soccer team registered its second consecutive tie in Sooner Athletic Conference play on Thursday as the Hillcat battled Lubbock Christian to a 2-2 draw in West Texas.
RSU recorded a double overtime tie at Soldier Field against Mid-America Christian last Friday.
After a scoreless opening stanza, the Cats took a 1-0 advantage in the 51st minute as Necas Collins found the back of the net with an assist from Mohammed Shaban.
The Chaps tallied the equalizer 10 minutes later as Byron Knowles blast the ball into the net form 35 yards out. LCU took the lead in the 64th minute as Timothy Haywood crossed the ball to Nick Gorrie who found the back of the net.
Mitchell Sowerby knotted the score in the 80th minute as he converted a penalty kick.
The Hillcats outshot the Chaps 15-10 in regulation but were unable to convert the game-winning goal. Each team fired a shot on frame in extra time but both goalkeepers were able to make the stops.
RSU keeper Nathan Inger registered three saves on the day while allowing two goals. LCU goalie Hunter Ganze made four stops while permitting two goals.
Rogers State (5-6-2, 1-1-2) continues its road trip on Saturday as the Hillcats head north to Plainview, Texas to take on Wayland Baptist at 1 p.m.
