FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Rogers State dropped its second and final exhibition contest of the 2012-13 campaign falling to NCAA Division I University of Arkansas 69-40 inside Bud Walton Arena.
Arkansas led RSU 30-18 at the half forcing coach Roxanne Long's squad into 17 first half turnovers. The host Razorbacks out-rebounded the Cats 21-20 as RSU forced 10 turnovers in the opening stanza of play.
In the opening four minutes of the second half the Hillcats were held to 0-of-6 shooting from the field while the Razorbacks quickly added nine points to its 12 point half time lead.
A four minute scoring drought for the Hillcats was countered by the home Razorbacks 9-0 run to stretch the lead to 57-24 with just eight minutes remaining.
Leah Smith led RSU with nine points as the senior hit 2-of-5 from behind the arc. Forward Logan Froese totaled eight points while pulling in five boards.
Quistelle Williams led all scorers with 14 points while Sarah Watkins and Dominique Robinson totaled 10 points. Jhasmin Bowen hit 4-of-5 from the field finishing with 11 points.
Arkansas shot 40.6 percent from the field in the second half finishing the game connecting on 37.1 percent. RSU hit just 29.8 percent from the field while hitting 64.3 percent from the field. The Razorbacks out-rebounded RSU 40-37 and forced the Hillcats into 36 turnovers.
Rogers State will open the regular season Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. hosting No. 14 Langston University (0-1) inside the Claremore Expo. RSU Radio 91.3FM will broadcast the game with live video streaming on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
