Hillcats Run Past Lady Royals, 90-49

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The No. 14 Rogers State women's basketball team cruised past Ecclesia College (Ark.) on Thursday night with a 90-49 victory at the Claremore Expo.

The Hillcats took control of the game early as they started the contest on a 13-2 run. The Lady Royals couldn't hang with RSU as the Hillcats took a 28-point lead into the locker room at intermission. Seniors Logan Froese and Ariani Silva led the fast-paced offense in the first stanza as they each reached double figures before the break. Froese poured in 13 points while Silva was right behind her with 12 points.

Leah Smith started the second half with a trey from the top of the key, sparking a 14-2 spurt. RSU led by as many as 46 points in the second frame and all but one RSU player tallied points in the contest.

Clarissa Cannon led five players in double figures. The junior from Las Vegas, Nev. tallied a career-high 16 points and nine rebounds. Froese and Smith registered 15 points apiece. Froese also pulled in eight boards and tied her career-high for assists with six. Silva and Adrianna Leatherbury rounded out the double digit scorers with 14 points apiece.

RSU pulled in 50 rebounds on the night while the Lady Royals managed just 27 boards.  Nine of RSU's 12 players tallied a steal as the Cats complied 20 swipes on the night led by Froese with four.

RSU shot 50 percent from the field while EC shot 32 percent on the night. The Hillcat bench poured in 43 points and the Cats tallied 33 points off turnovers as the Lady Royals gave up the ball 31 times.

Rogers State (10-2) will return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday against No. 5 Westminster College (Utah) at the Claremore Expo. The game marks the Hillcats' final contest before the Holiday break.
