PERU, Neb. – Rogers State moved to 3-0 on the road this season with a 74-63 victory over Peru State College Monday evening inside Al Wheeler Activity Center.
The NAIA No. 8 ranked Hillcats led from start to finish leading by as much as 16 points in the first half. The Cats entered the locker room at the half up 40-31.
Coach Roxanne Long's squad saw its lead trimmed to 44-43 with 13:23 remaining in the game. RSU answered with a 21-8 run over the next eight minutes capped off by a Clarissa Cannon layup off a Sierra Cornwell assist.
PSC responded with a 12-4 run of its own trimming the Hillcats' lead to 69-63. But RSU held the home team scoreless over the final 1:24 to claim the 74-63 win.
RSU limited the hometown Bobcats to just 1-of-9 shooting from behind the arc on the night. Aduago Osuala led PSC with 16 points on 7-of-21 shooting.
Logan Froese led RSU with 15 points pulling in six rebounds while Cannon added 11 points off the bench. Rician Walker came off the bench as well to total 10 points as the Hillcats hit just 2-of-12 shooting on 3-pointers.
The Hillcats totaled 20 steal, led by Cornwell with nine, forcing the Bobcats into 26 turnovers.
Rogers State (8-2) will travel to Alva, Okla. on Saturday, Nov. 8 to face former Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State for a 6 p.m. tip time.
