CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women jumped out early on Mid-America Christian Saturday afternoon and never looked back as the Hillcats topped the Evangels 76-52 inside the Claremore Expo.
RSU built a 12 point advantage in the opening 5:03 of the contest as Logan Froese made a layup admits contact. Froese led all scorers with 18 points tallying 11 in the first half. The largest lead of the first stanza came on a Brittani Smith 3-pointer with 1:13 as RSU led 45-16. The Hillcats entered the halftime locker room up, 45-18.
Coach Amy Williams' squad pushed the advantage to 30 points as Sierra Cornwell's layup dropped in at the 15:36 mark. The Lady Evangels never cut the deficit below 21 points in the second half as the Cats coasted to the 76-52 victory.
Froese hit 7-of-8 from the field for a game high 18 points as the Claremore native played 23 minutes. Sierra Cornwell nabbed five steals and dished out five assists while totaling 15 points and seven rebounds. Rounding the Hillcat double-figure scorers was Ariani Silva with 12 points.
MACU (10-16, 4-16) was led by Brittany Woodward and Erica Love with 10 points each. The Lady Evangels turned the ball over 20 times resulting in 12 Hillcat steals. MACU shot just 31.5 percent from the field and was outrebounded 44-36.
Rogers State (18-10, 12-8) will close out the home schedule on Thursday, February 23 with Senior Night as three Hillcat women will be honored for their careers on The Hill. The first 750 fans will also receive "White Out" t-shirts sponsored by Midwest Sporting Goods as RSU looks to "White Out" Southern Nazarene.
