Diamond Cats Storm Past Southern Nazarene, 6-0

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State baseball team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Southern Nazarene in the first game of the three-game series on Thursday night at Hillcat Complex.

Lance Rymel sparked the offense in the second inning with a leadoff single up the middle. Cody Campbell followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Randy Ramirez singled to shallow right field which allowed courtesy runner Taylor Estes to score. A wild throw to first base by Tyler De Trinidad sent Ramirez home.

RSU added to its lead in the fifth, plating four runs on three hits with the help of an SNU error. Eric Baker led off the inning and reached on an error. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Hector Rivera and scored on a single through the left side of the infield by Rymel. With runners on second and third, Ramirez registered an RBI double and Cade McKewon followed with a single to shallow right field, bringing two runs home.

The 6-0 lead after five inning proved to be enough as the RSU pitching staff kept the Storm scoreless through the final four innings.
