Hillcats Fall to Golden Eagles, 2-0

TULSA, Okla.- The Rogers State women's soccer team fell in its first road contest of the season, 2-0, to NCAA Division I opponent Oral Roberts at Case Field on Sunday evening.

RSU goalkeeper Jordan Harris made several big saves in the game as the Golden Eagles fired 10 shots on frame in the contest. ORU blasted 23 shots and managed one goal in each half.

Freshman Taylor Hallford added a spark off the bench and gave the Hillcats their first scoring opportunity as soon as she entered the game as she sent the ball just over the crossbar in the 16th minute of play.

Just two minutes later ORU broke the scoreless tie as Megan Giles scored off a keeper deflection to give the Golden Eagles the lead.

The Hillcats battled through the remainder of the half but were unable to find the back of the net as they trailed 1-0 at intermission.

Freshman Kayla Keller doubled the ORU lead in the 54th minute, finding the back of the net off a deflection amongst a scramble in box.

Jordan Beasley and Mikella Schexnider each had chances to put RSU on the board in the second stanza. Beasley dribbled through the ORU defense, unable to finish with a goal, and Schexnider fired the ball just wide from the top of the key.

Rogers State (1-1) will look to return to the win column on Tuesday as the Cats travel to Bethany, Okla. to take on Southwestern Christian at 2 p.m.
