CLAREMORE, Okla.- The Rogers State women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Friday afternoon at Soldier Field.
The Hillcats fell behind early as the Lady Eagles struck in the 16th minute of the game. OWU crashed the goal as Elisa Brito and Paula Vicenzo connected on consecutive passes and sent the ball into the box for Amber Brown-Longoria who first-timed it past the keeper.
Serina Gomez added to the OWU lead in the 27th minute of the game as she found the back of the net off a corner kick, curving the ball back post. The Eagles took the 2-0 lead into intermission and quickly made it a 3-0 advantage just two minutes into the second half as ---- fired a shot past the keeper during a scramble in the box.
The Hillcats cut the deficit in the 73rd minute as Kealani Chaidez scored her second goal of the season. They Hillcats had several opportunities to score in the second frame but the OWU defense kept RSU from getting many shots off.
Jordan Harris suffered the loss in goal for the Hillcats as she made four saves while giving up three goals. Lauren Mohamed tallied the win in goal for OWU, making four saves while allowing one goal.
Rogers State (3-12-1) returns to the pitch on Saturday evening for their final game of the season against Heartland Conference opponent Newman (Kan.) at 7 p.m. RSU will honor its seniors between the men's and women's games. The game will be streamed online at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
