Mustangs Corral Hillcat Women's Soccer, 3-1

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Rogers State women's soccer suffered a 3-1 loss on the road Sunday at Midwestern State University at the MSU Soccer Field.

The Mustangs struck first in the opening period of play with a breakaway goal by Kensli Pounds of the rebound put MSU up 1-0 in the 16th minute. The second goal by MSU came in the 56th minute as Ashley Cottrell from the center of the box found Lizzie Nevarette on the left wing who found the back of the net.

The Hillcats didn't go away quietly as Tara Garrett scored in the 79th minute to trim the deficit to one goal. A Mustang goal in the 87th minute put the score at its final mark of 3-1.

Hillcat keeper Jordan Harris made nine saves as Midwestern State made 27 shot attempts. RSU totaled six shots as MSU keeper Kallie Essary made one save in the victory.

Rogers State (0-5) welcomes Bacone College to Soldier Field on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in Claremore, Okla. and the game will be broadcast on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
