AUSTIN, TEXAS - The Rogers State women's basketball team suffered a 67-49 loss to St. Edwards on Saturday afternoon at the Recreation and Convocation Center.
 
RSU opened the game with an 8-4 lead but the advantage was short-lived. The Hilltoppers used an 18-2 run to gain the lead and extend it to 26-13 with five minutes to play. Heather Roberts stopped the Hilltopper run with a layup but the Hillcats couldn't find a rhythm on offense, held to 25 percent shooting from the field in the opening stanza.  St. Edwards ended the half on a 9-1 run to take a 34-18 lead into the locker room at intermission.
 
The Hillcats couldn't overcome the deficit in the second frame. The Hilltoppers opened the second half with an 8-2 spurt before Kami Bunch silenced the run with a trey. St. Edwards capitalized on RSU turnovers, scoring 20 points off Hillcat miscues.
 
Kami Bunch led the Hillcats in scoring, registering her fourth double digit scoring effort of the season with 16 points. The RSU bench posted 21 points in the contest, led by Roberts who tallied her first career double digit scoring game, with 12 points. Mileka Loydrake led St. Edwards with 17 points.
 
Rogers State (2-9, 0-3) returns to the Claremore Expo Thursday evening as the Hillcats host Heartland Conference opponent Texas A&M International at 5:30 p.m. The game can be view live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live and live audio will be available on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
