Hillcats Drop 3-0 Decision at No. 14 SEU

AUSTIN, Texas – The Rogers State women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at No. 14 St. Edward's on Saturday afternoon at LC Family Field in the final road game for the Hillcats this season.
 
The Hilltoppers put in two first-half goals and added a tally in the second half for the 3-0 final score.
 
The nationally ranked Hilltoppers got on the scoreboard early as they scored the game-winning goal in the third minute of action. Whytneigh Duffie hit in a cross for the early 1-0 score. The Hilltoppers extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 21st minute when Toni Tewes played in a low shot that bounced over the hands of the goalkeeper.
 
The final tally for the Hilltoppers occurred in the 77th minute for the 3-0 lead. SEU's Sydney Mack scored on a curving shot from the corner of the box.
 
For the contest, SEU held a 24-4 edge in shots, but the Hilltoppers only put four shots on goal. RSU tallied two shots on goal.
 
Marlaina Trahant and Paige Pontarolo each had one shot on target. Jasmine Guerra and Kimberlin Bennett posted one shot each.
 
The Hillcats (5-8-1, 1-8-1) end the regular season with four straight league home contests. The streak starts with Texas A&M International on Thursday (Oct. 20) at 5 p.m. at Soldier Field. Coverage will be available on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
