Sizzling Second Half Leads Hillcats to 69-36 Win over Bacone on Homecoming

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack and sizzling second half to top Bacone College, 69-36, on Saturday afternoon at the Claremore Expo Center in the 10th-annual homecoming game
 
After a tightly contested opening period, RSU used a 14-0 run to gain an 11-point advantage early in the second quarter. Nikola Nedoroscikova scored five points during the run to help give the Hillcats a 23-12 lead.
 
RSU held the Warriors to five points and 11 percent shooting in the second quarter to take a 27-17 lead into intermission.
 
The Hillcats were sizzling in the second half as the navy and red totaled 42 points on 61.5 percent (16-26) shooting from the field. The Cats outscored the Warriors, 42-19, in the final 20 minutes.  In the third quarter, RSU extended the advantage by 13 points to 48-25. The lead continued to grow in the final stanza as the Hillcats totaled 21 points compared to only 11 from Bacone for the final 69-36 score.
 
For the game, the Hillcats held Bacone to 23 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers en route to the 69-38 victory.
 
RSU finished shooting 50.9 percent (27-53) from the field, including 37.9 percent (11-29) from 3-point distance.
 
RSU had 13 different players score, led by Courtney Smith's 12 points off four triples. Nedoroscikova added eight points and six assists, and Natasha Kindred posted nine points and seven boards in the win. The bench scored 32 of the 69 points in the runaway victory.
 
Bacone was paced by Ashley Barry-Wallace with 11 points, the only Warrior to hit double figures.
 
The Hillcats (2-2) are back in action Tuesday night as they host the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Claremore Expo Center with live coverage available on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live
