Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hillcats Sink Threes to Sink Crusaders 101-75

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's basketball used sharpshooting from behind the arc to dismantle Dallas Christian 101-75 inside the Claremore Expo Thursday evening.

The Hillcats, less than 24 hours after shooting 50 percent from behind the arc at Oklahoma State, was excellent again from long distance hitting 59.1 percent from 3-point as a team. Travis Hester led the way as he hit 4-of-5 from long distance and freshman Tavian Davis knocked down three 3-pointers of his own as the Hillcats made 13 as a team.

RSU traded buckets with the Crusaders in the opening five minutes before guards Kyler Ng and Chase Littlejohn combined to fuel an 11-6 run by the Hillcats with 13:41 remaining before half. Jordan Huffman added in a layup and Davis hit one of his three 3-pointers to put the Cats ahead by 10 just over a minute later and RSU wouldn't relinquish the double-digit lead the remainder of the game. The Hillcats held a 61-42 lead at the intermission as Hester scored all 12 of his points in the first period.

Coach Justin Barkley's squad built the lead to a 27 point advantage with 14:45 to go on another Davis long distance connection. RSU would stretch the lead to a 30 point deficit over the Crusaders with just over three minutes remaining to claim the 106-75 victory over winless Dallas Christian.

Davis, a Muskogee, Okla. native, finished with a RSU high and career high 17 points on the evening. All 12 Hillcats scored on the evening while seven players scored in double-figures. JD Tisdale, Jeylyn Sharpe and Huffman tallied 11 points while Johnathon Buckley and Littlejohn chipped in 10 points as RSU claimed its fifth victory of the year.

Dallas Christian (0-14) shot 36 percent from 3-point range as Josh Walls led all scorers with 22 points in the Crusader loss. Keldon Williams finished with 19 points and Daytin Howard added in 16 points but it wasn't enough as RSU moved to 8-0 versus Dallas Christian all-time.
