CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball team couldn't generate enough offense against Oklahoma Christian on Saturday dropping both games of a doubleheader at the Diamond Sports Complex. OC took game one, 6-1, and picked up a 9-3 win in the nightcap.
GAME ONE
The Eagles played small ball in the series opening game with eight singles and only one double for their nine hits, including three RBI singles to score half of their six runs.
OC capitalized on an RSU error to go up 1-0 in the third inning. The Eagles added two runs in the fourth to go up 3-0 after a ground out and a single to left plated runs. In the sixth inning, runs scored on a single to right and a sac fly for a 5-1 lead. The final OC run came on a single through the infield for the final 6-1 score.

Caleb Kohlmeyer for a 3-1 score.
Trailing 3-1, RSU had an opportunity to rally as the Hillcats loaded the bases with two outs in the fifth inning. A ground ball right to third base ended the chance for RSU.
Starting pitcher
Blake Roley suffered his first loss of the season. He started strong and didn't allow an earned run until the fourth inning. The junior finished with five strikeouts in 5.1 innings with six hits allowed and four earned runs.
Landon Nealon pitched the final 1.2 innings and allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts.
Samuel Davison and
Zack Ashford went 2 for 3 at the plate. RSU totaled seven hits.
GAME TWO
Early home runs by the Eagles allowed them to pull out to a 4-1 lead en route to the 9-3 win in game two. The Hillcats also used the long ball to get runs their three runs.
A solo home run in the second inning put the visiting Eagles up 1-0, and another run scored after an error in the outfield for a 2-0 OC advantage.
Orozco hit a solo home run off the scoreboard in left field to plate the first RSU run to cut the deficit in half to 2-1.
The slew of home runs continued as OC hit a two-run homer in the third to go up 4-1. The Eagles added one run in the fifth, and tallied four more in the sixth, three coming on a bases clearing double to the gap in left center, for a 9-1 advantage.
Chris Miguel got in on the home run derby with a two-run home run to left for the final 9-3 score.
Kohlmeyer went 2 for 4 with one run scored. The Hillcats finished with eight hits.
