CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's basketball team ended a four-game losing streak with a 66-59 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday (Dec. 9) at the Claremore Expo Center.
RSU (4-5) finished the game with a 10-2 run over the final 4:37 of the game to earn the victory.
The Hillcats erased a one-point deficit midway through the fourth period with baskets off back-to-back steals to go up 60-57 with 4:16 remaining to take control of the contest. After the Savage Storm (6-3) went up 57-56 at the 6:07 mark,
Kamry Chamberlain got a steal and a fastbreak layup to push the Cats back in front at 58-57.
Nikola Nedoroscikova made it two straight steals by RSU and
Lindsey Byfield scored on a put-back layup for a 60-57 score with 4:16 left.
Holding a three-point edge with less than a minute remaining,
Darian Jackson ended all hope for the Savage Storm with a layup with 26 seconds left off a pass from Nedoroscikova for a 64-59 score.
Lauren Schuldt made two late free throws for the final points in the 66-59 win.
Nedoroscikova finished with a career-high 19 points and four assists in 29 minutes. Jackson poured in 14 points, and Ke'Aunna Johnson came off the bench for 10 points in 18 minutes.
The navy and red shot 42.9 percent (24-56) from the field, including 45.5 percent (10-22) from 3. The Cats took care of the basketball with only nine turnovers in the 40 minutes.
RSU's defense limited the Savage Storm to 38.5 percent (20-52) from the field and 27.3 percent (6-22) from 3-point distance.
SE's Katie Webb and Emem David each totaled 15 points, and David posted a double-double as she added 12 rebounds.
