CLAREMORE, Okla. – Visiting Colorado Christian plated a run in the 12th inning to squeeze out a 3-2 victory over the Rogers State baseball team as the Hillcats suffered their first loss of the season on Friday at the Diamond Sports Complex.
With the score tied at 2-2 in the 12th, the Cougars started the inning with a double to the gap in left to put a runner in scoring position. A sac punt moved the go-ahead run to third. After a walk to put runners at the corners, CCU's Brandon Hesselberg singled to right field to score the game-winning run for a 3-2 edge.
The Hillcats had their opportunities late as RSU loaded the bases in each of the ninth, 10th and 12th innings. Each time was with less than two outs. In the 12th, the navy and red put three baserunners on, but struck out and popped out to end the game.
CCU went up 2-0 after plating runs in the first and third innings. A fielder's choice scored the first run in the first inning, and a bunt single increased the edge to 2-0.

Tim Luce started for RSU, going 5.0 innings. He allowed two runs on eight hits.
Landon Nealon and
Justin Magstadt combined to pitch 5.0 innings without a hit allowed.
Rusty Huber picked up the loss as he went two innings and gave up one run on three hits. The senior totaled three strikeouts.
Alex Ginn of the Cougars got the win as he totaled 1.1 innings of work. Owen Harris ended the game with the final two outs, earning the save.
The Cats totaled 12 hits. Davison went 2-for-4 hitting with one RBI.

Ismael Orozco all posted two hits.
CCU's Hesselberg finished 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Kaleb Johnson registered a 3-for-5 performance.
