RSU Track & Field Lowers School Records to Open Indoor Season

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Rogers State track & field team saw numerous school records fall in the first event of the 2018-19 indoor season on Saturday (Dec. 8) at the Crimson & Gold Invitational at Robert W. Plaster Center. School records were set in the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay, men's triple jump along with freshman records in the 60 meters, 200 meters and 300 meters.
 
The Hillcat men won the 4x400 meter relay and set a new school record in the process. Jacques Morgan, Tyvonne Allen, Trevon DeBoest and Alfred Thomas ran a provisional time of 3:16.05 to win the event by almost one second over second place Oklahoma Baptist. The time currently ranks fifth in the nation in NCAA Division II.
 
The RSU women's 4x400 meter relay put together a time of 3:54.24 for third overall. The team of Audrianna Morgan, Tizhane Brooks, Jaylen Hogue and Tamaya Tutson broke the RSU school record with the mark that ranks ninth in NCAA Division II early in the season.
 
Baffour Kyem set an RSU school record in the men's triple jump with a distance of 44 feet, 4.25 inches to place eighth overall in the event.
 
In the women's 60 meters, Audrianna Morgan paced the navy and red with a top 10 place in 7.76 seconds. Erica Womack ran a personal best time and set a freshman record in the 60 meters as she crossed the finish line in 7.88 seconds.
 
Kayla Pruitt broke the freshman indoor women's 200 meter record as the top Hillcat in the event, finishing in 25.98 seconds for 13th overall.
 
Alfred Thomas III was the top collegiate runner in the men's 200 meters as he timed 21.76 seconds, only two hundredths of a second off the NCAA Division II provisional time.
 
Two Hillcats finished in the top 10 in the women's 300 meter dash. Tamaya Tutson ran the race in 41.58 seconds to place sixth. Tizhane Brooks finished in eighth place in 41.91 seconds.
 
In the men's 300 meter dash, Tyvonne Allen set the RSU freshman school record and was second overall in a time of 35.08 seconds. Senior Djiron Lilley also finished in the top 10 in the 300 meters as he ran 35.61 seconds in the event. Jacques Morgan placed ninth overall, finishing in 35.95 seconds.
 
Ellen Thomas put together a time of 11:25.82 in the 3,000 meters to place eighth in the event.
 
Nick Williams, who was recently an all-conference selection in cross country, set a 5-kilometer indoor personal record with his time of 15:32.38.
 
The Hillcats return to competition on Jan. 18th at the Rumble in the Jungle at Pittsburg, Kansas at Robert W. Plaster Center.
