LUBBOCK, Texas – The Rogers State women's basketball team fell, 82-38, at No. 2-ranked Lubbock Christian on Saturday (Feb. 10) at the Rip Griffin Center. The Hillcats (8-14, 3-7 Heartland) shot only 22.4 percent (13-58) from the floor in the loss to the Lady Chaps (22-1, 11) as the host finished at 54.7 percent (29-53).
RSU played with the No. 2-ranked team early in the first period with the Cats taking a 10-9 edge on a
Lindsey Byfield 3-pointer with 3:15 to go in the opening period.
That was the only lead of the game for the navy and red as the host Lady Chaps went on a 17-1 run to pull away for a 26-11 advantage at the 6:46 mark of the second period. LCU held a 34-19 lead at halftime.
The Hillcats scored first in the second half on
Darian Jackson layup, but the Lady Chaps controlled the rest of the half and went on to win 82-38.
LCU shot 54.7 percent (29-53) from the field and a hot 61.9 percent (13-21) from 3. Maddi Chitsey totaled a game-high 14 points. Caitlyn Cunyus added 12 points.
RSU finished at 22.4 percent (13-58 from the floor in the game.
Lauren Schuldt paced the Cats with 10 points, and Jackson went for seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Nikola Nedoroscikova registered a game-high five assists.
