Top of Hillcat Lineup Produces in 12-6 Win at NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The top three Hillcats in the Rogers State baseball lineup totaled 10 RBI in a 12-6 victory over in-state rival Northeastern State on Tuesday (March 13) in a rare midweek game at Rousey Field.
 
The top three of Matt Seubert, Zack Mann and Blake Chiarmaonte combined for 10 RBI and seven hits to power the Cats to the win.
 
Mann and Seubert each posted three hits and four RBI from the top two spots. Chiaramonte was 1-for-5 with two RBI.
 
The Cats plated two runs in the first inning on a sac fly from Brooks Douglass and an error from NSU allowed one more tally for a 2-0 score. The RiverHawks scored runs in each of the second and third inning to tie the score at 2-2.
 
Seubert and Mann started their strong outings in the fourth inning with the two driving in three runs for a 5-2 lead. Seubert double to right to score one, and Mann singled up the middle for the other two runs in the three-run fourth inning.
 
After two runs from NSU in the fifth cut the margin to 5-4, Chiaramonte plated two runs with a single to left to increase the RSU margin to 7-4.
 
The duo of Seubert and Mann each drove in one run in the seventh with RBI singles to up the score to 9-5.
 
The two weren't done yet as Seubert brought in two runs in the ninth and Mann added one more run on a sac fly for the final 12-6 score.
 
AJ Deason earned the start and went the first 4.0 innings. Landon Nealon, Preston Whitten and Joey Lucas all pitched in relief with Lucas picking up a save in 2.2 innings of work.
 
The Hillcats return home for a four-game nonconference series against Newman on Friday and Saturday at the Diamond Sports Complex. The series start at 1 p.m. on Friday with a doubleheader. Coverage will be available on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
