OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Rogers State men's soccer team used a second-half goal to earn a 1-0 league victory at Oklahoma Christian on Saturday (Sept. 15) at the Eagle Soccer Field.
The Hillcats (3-3, 1-1 Heartland) got their first Heartland Conference victory with the road win.
Although the navy and red won 1-0, RSU controlled the contest with a 22-10 edge in shots, including a first half that saw the Hillcats hold a 12-2 advantage.
RSU finally scored the game-winning tally in the 61st minute when sophomore
Jaxon Pitt knocked in a shot from eight yards after a touch by
Jake Simpson, who got the assist. The goal put the navy and red up 1-0 early in the second half.
Simpson and
Jordan Watson tallied a game-high give shots, and Simpson posted two shots on goal.
Freshman
Chase Coy got the shutout win in goal for his first career victory in his second start of the season. Coy posted three saves in 90 minutes to earn the clean sheet and move to 1-1 on the season.

Michael Turner to get the shutout win, RSU's third shutout of the season.
The Hillcats continue their four-game road trip to start league play at Eastern New Mexico on Thursday (Sept. 20) at 7 p.m. in Portales, N.M.
