PORTALES, N.M. – The Rogers State men's soccer team earned its second straight league win with a 1-0 victory at Eastern New Mexico on Thursday (Sept. 20) night at Greyhound Stadium after a slight weather delay.
The Hillcats (4-3, 2-1 Heartland Conference) made it back-to-back road wins by the identical score of 1-0 after beating Oklahoma Christian on Saturday by the same margin in Oklahoma City.
Sophomore
Jarrod Cooper posted his first career goal in the navy and red as his sliding shot off a corner kick from
Noah Robson found the left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Robson picked up the assist on the game-winning goal from Cooper.
The Hillcats posted their third shutout in the last four games and fourth overall this season. The backline of

Michael Turner,
Jesus Ramirez,
Jeremy Hoelzer and
Chris Sowder kept the Greyhounds scoreless for 90 minutes and limited the host team to only three shots on goal.
Freshman
Chase Coy, who was making only his third start this season, posted his second straight shutout victory. He went the full 90 minutes and registered three saves. Coy moved to 2-1 this season in goal.
The host Greyhounds finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots, but the teams were even in shots on goal at 3-3.
Jordan Watson tallied a team-high three shots. The navy and red held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Hillcats conclude their four-game road stretch to start league play at West Texas A&M on Saturday (Sept. 22) at 1 p.m. in Canyon, Texas. Live stats and video streaming will be available.
