SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Rogers State Men's Soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist Saturday evening in great American Conference play, using a pair of second-half goals to push past the Bison for the second time this season.
Jaxon Pitt got things started for the Hillcats, scoring his fifth goal of the season less than four minutes after coming out of the half.
Chris Sowder started the play with a ball in from the left wing that
Jake Simpson was able to get a piece of, deflecting it up and off the crossbar. The ball dropped to Pitt just outside of the six-yard box, and the junior was able to put the ball into the open net.
The Hillcats would continue to dominate the majority of the contest, allowing just one shot on target from the hosts in the second half, after only two shots on goal and four total shots in the first 45 minutes.

The game would remain close until the final two minutes when
Jordan Watson set up Simpson for the second goal of the game for RSU, clinching the victory.
Watson would have the ball on the left wing and worked past his defender all the way across the goalline toward the Oklahoma Baptist goal. Watson would then pass the ball to Simpson in the middle of the penalty area, who smashed his 13
th goal of the season into the net.
Simpson's goal tied the single-season record for the Hillcats, matching Desmond Fitzgerald's 13 goals in 2009.
