KEARNEY, Neb. – Rogers State Women's Soccer picked up another point with their second-straight 0-0 tie, playing a scoreless draw at Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday.
ReVella Fisher made eight saves to earn the Hillcats their fifth tie of the season, a school record.
Rogers State had a strong start, with
Maggie Brown and
Laurelle Theodore providing a pair of shots on goal each in the first 45 minute. Brown's first shot came from outside the corner of the penalty area in the 10
th minute.
Brown then had a shot from just outside the penalty area denied in the 12
th minute. Theodore followed up with a shot in the 13
th minute that forced a save before one of the strongest efforts in the half coming in the 26
th minute when Theodore was denied from just outside the six-yard box.
Sydney Connelly had a long-range effort stopped later in the half, before
Audrey Maxwell had a shot denied from the left corner of the penalty area.
The second half was nearly the exact opposite, as Fisher had to make six saves to keep the game scoreless and send the game to overtime.
Fisher continued her strong game in goal, recording a pair of saves in the first overtime to finish with eight saves.
Fisher's seventh shutout of the season moved her into a tie for the third most shutouts in a single season. The eight saves brings the junior to 111 on the season, fifth most in a single season.
In the second overtime, Theodore had an early effort stopped from just outside of the penalty area. Less than a minute later,
Janell Hernandez had the final shot of goal in the game stopped. Right at the end of the overtime, Connelly had a shot miss right.
The Hillcats return to action on Friday, making the short trip to Tahlequah to face Northeastern State in the second-to-last game of the regular season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at NSU.
