Men's Basketball Falls On Road At #4 St. Edward's

AUSTIN, Texas – The Rogers State Men's Basketball team fell on the road Wednesday night at No. 4 St. Edward's University 89-63 in Heartland Conference play.
 
The Hillcats (16-9, 5-6 Heartland) battled early with the league leaders, leading for several minutes of the first half, but after tying the game back up at 19, Rogers State was unable to stop a strong 14-4 run over the next four minutes and the Hillcats were unable to recover.
 
Rogers State trailed 40-29 at the break and the top-five ranked team continued to shoot exceptional from behind the arc in the second half, making nine three pointers to outscore the Hillcats 49-34 over the final 20 minutes.
 
In total, St. Edward's (22-2, 11-1) made 15 three pointers to just four from Rogers State. The Hillcats shot 40 percent for the game, but St. Edward's shot 45 percent from the field and 56 percent from three-point range, while also outrebounding the visitors 38-36.
 
Latrell Tidwell led the Hillcats in scoring, finishing with 14 points. He also shared in the team high in rebounds with Saint Hilaire, grabbing six boards.
 
Chase Littlejohn and Tavian Davis joined Tidwell in double figures. Littlejohn finished with 13 points and two assists, while Davis had 10 points and three steals.
 
Hilaire had five points to go along with his six rebounds. Tate Turner was held to just six points.
 
Rogers State will return home Saturday for the first of three-straight at the Claremore Expo Center to close out the home schedule. The Hillcats will face Lubbock Christian and tip off with the Chaps at 3:00 p.m.
