SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Rogers State Women's Track & Field team opened up the outdoor season on Thursday with several strong performances, including two school records and 10 top-eight finishes, at the Oklahoma Baptist University Early Outdoor Invitational.
Tizhane Brooks claimed a school record in the 400-meter dash with a third-place finish. Brooks ran a 1:01.50 to break the previous record by 1.6 seconds. Fellow freshman
Tamaya Tutson also broke the previous record, running a 1:01.6 to take fourth overall.
The Hillcats also had two more runners break a school record on Wednesday.
Katelyn Callender broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a fourth-place finish and a time of 1:08.89. Callender's time was 5.16 seconds faster than the previous record.
Kaylee Jimboy broke the old record by 1.29 seconds with a 1:12.76 to finish sixth overall.
Jaylen Hogue had the best finish for the Hillcats on a windy day, running a 12.48 to finish second overall in the 100-meter dash.
Kayla Pruitt finished just behind her, running a 12.52 to take third.
Hogue and Pruitt also joined up with Tutson and Brooks to run second overall in the 4x100-meter relay. The Hillcats ran a 49.58, finishing .76 seconds behind the winner.
Olivia Couch earned a top-eight finish in the long jump, clearing a distance of 5.00 meters to take sixth in an 18-jumper field.

Mia Chavez took seventh and eighth in the 5000-meter run. Lawver finished with a time of 21:02.51. Chavez ran a 21:27.79.
Katelyn Alexander led the way for the Hillcats in the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run, finishing 10
th in both races. Alexander ran a 2:34.13 in the 800 and finished with a 5:15.03 in the 1500.
Rogers State will return to action at the end of March, competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The event will start on March 28 and run through March 30.
