WACO, Texas – Rogers State sophomore Andrea Morales has been named the Heartland Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Mar. 18 – Mar. 24.
 
Morales led the Hillcats to a 4-1 week with a three-game series sweep of Newman and a split at Texas A&M International. Morales made three appearances, going 3-0 with a 1.22 era on the week.
 
The El Paso, Texas native pitched 23 innings, allowing just four earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out 26 batters. Morales held opponents to just .114 hitting during the week.
 
The sophomore threw a two-hit shutout against Newman to finish the week, recording five strikeouts in seven innings.
 
Morales leads the Heartland Conference in earned run average this season at 1.23 and is also the conference leader in innings pitched (131.0) and strikeouts (157). This is Morales' fourth player of the week award this season.
 
Morales and the rest of the Hillcats will return to action Tuesday, traveling to Commerce, Texas to take on Texas A&M-Commerce in a non-conference doubleheader. Rogers State hosts Texas A&M International in Heartland Conference play this weekend at the Diamond Sports Complex.
