AUSTIN/SAN MARCOS, Texas – An Abbreviated group of Hillcats ran at the Texas Relays and the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
At the Texas Relays, the Hillcats went up against a majority Division I field, with Hillcats running in four events.
Alfred Thomas led the way for Rogers State in the 100-meter Dash, placing 28
th overall in a field of 105 runners. Thomas ran a time of 10.513, the fourth fastest time in program history.
D'Jiron Lilley also ran in the event, placing 58
th with a 10.842.
The duo would tam up with
Jacques Morgan and
Quintin Powell in the 4x100-meter Relay, finishing in the top half of the field of 48 teams, running a 41.78 for 23
rd overall. The time was .30 seconds faster than the previous season best for the four Hillcats.
On the women's side,
Kayla Pruitt and
Jaylen Hogue ran in the 100-meter Dash. Pruitt ran 87
th in a 134-runner field, finishing with a 12.396. Hogue finished with a 12.402 to finish in 90
th. Both runners ran personal bests.
Pruitt and Hogue would join up with
Tamaya Tutson and
Tizhane Brooks in the 4x100-meter Relay, running 36
th overall in a 55-team field with a 48.29. The time was 1.29 seconds faster than the previous best for the group in 2019.
On Saturday at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational, Tutson had the big performance, breaking the school record in the 400-meter Dash by 4.59 seconds with a 56.91. She finished ninth overall in the event.
Pruitt ran in the 100-meter Dash again on Saturday, running .02 seconds slower at the Texas Relays with a 12.42.
Brooks also competed in an individual event, running a 26.03 in her first attempt as a Hillcat at the 200-meter Dash.
On the men's side,
Tyvonne Allen ran the second fastest time in school history in the 400-meter Hurdles, running a 57.43, just .21 seconds off the school record.
Quintin Powell added a top-five finish in the 400-meter Dash with a 47.88 to take fifth.
Lilley and Morgan ran double duty on Saturday competing in the 100 and 200-meter Dash. In the 200, Lilley ran his fourth fastest time ever in the event with a 21.72. Morgan ran a 22.52.
In the 100, Lilley ran a 10.99, while Morgan finished with a 11.56.
The Hillcats will return to action on April 12-13, running in the Wichita State hosted KT Woodman Classic.
