SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Rogers State Women's Track & Field team set two school records and had several strong finishes at the 2019 Great American Conference Track & Field Championships hosted at Oklahoma Baptist University.
Tizhane Brooks,
Jaylen Hogue,
Katelyn Alexander and
Tamaya Tutson teamed up in the 4x400-meter relay to run fourth overall and break the four-minute barrier for the first time in school history. The group set a new program best with a time of 3:59.61.
The relay team of
Kayla Pruitt, Hogue,
Special Hawkins and Brooks recorded the best finish for the Hillcats, finishing second overall in the 4x100-meter relay, running a time of 47.19.
Katelyn Callender claimed the other school record on Saturday, setting the mark with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Callender ran a time of 1:03.79 to break her own school record.
Callender also led the way for the Hillcats in the 100-meter hurdles, running a time of 15.88 for 11
th overall.
Olivia Couch earned a top five finish in the long jump on Saturday. Couch cleared a distance of 5.51 meters to finish fourth overall. Pruitt finished ninth in the event, clearing a distance of 5.25 meters.
Pruitt led the Hillcats in the 100-meter dash, finishing sixth overall. The freshman ran a time of 12.18, setting a personal best in the race. Hogue took eighth in the event, finishing with a 12.25.
Hogue led the Hillcats in the 200-meter dash, taking ninth. Hogue finished with a 25.23. Pruitt finished with a 25.44, while Brooks and Tutson finished with times of 25.56 and 25.57.
Tutson and Brooks took fifth and seventh overall in the 400-meter dash. Tutson led the way for Rogers State with a time of 57.42, her second fastest time in program history behind only her school record of 56.91.
Brooks finished just behind Tutson with a 57.79.
Alexander led the way for the Hillcats in the mid-distance events of the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run. Alexander took 10
th on the 800 with a time of 2:26.12.
In the 1500, Alexander finished eighth overall with a time of 4:58.74
The Hillcats will return to action on April 26-27, competing in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
