CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State Baseball completed a four-game season sweep of Northeastern State on Wednesday, defeating the RiverHawks 3-2 in a non-conference game at the Diamond Sports Complex.
Case Woodard led the Hillcats on the mound over the first four innings, giving up just one walk as the Hillcats took a team no-hit bid into the sixth inning. Woodard finished with two strikeouts in the no decision.
Rogers State took the lead in the third inning when
Griffin Keller doubled down the right-field line, scoring
Zack Mann.
Blake Chiaramonte doubled the Hillcats lead in the fourth inning with a double to left center, scoring
Dylan Russell.
The visitors would tie the game in the sixth inning, scoring the first run on a double, followed by a second run on a wild pitch.
The Hillcats would respond in the bottom half of the inning, getting a run back on a wild pitch as
Brandon Bradshaw scored the go-ahead and winning run.
CJ Edwards picked up the winning, tossing 1.1 innings in relief. Edwards allowed just one walk with two strikeouts.
Brock Knoten earned his 11
th save of the season, tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
Rogers State will return to the road as the Hillcats travel to Lubbock, Texas to take on Heartland Conference leaders Lubbock Christian in a battle of the top two teams in the conference standings. First pitch of the series is set for 3 p.m. on Friday.
