Jackson Scores Double-Double In Hillcat Loss to Washburn

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State women's basketball fell in the final home game of the season to visiting Washburn by a score of 80-53 on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Claremore Expo Center.
 
How it Happened: The Ichabods (15-9, 8-6 MIAA) started off hot from the field, as they went on an 11-to-2 run early in the first quarter. They would end up outscoring the Hillcats (4-21, 2-14 MIAA) 21-9 in the quarter.
 
In the second, the Hillcats would cut the Ichabod lead to seven after a two pointer from senior Alicia Brown with 1:05 left in the half. The Hillcats would outscore the Ichabods 17-15 in the second quarter and would head to the locker room at the half trailing 36-26.
 
The Ichabods started the second half much like they did the first half. At the 5:59 mark of the third quarter, the Ichabods went on a 13-to-3 run and extended their lead to 53-36.
 
The Ichabods would outscore the Hillcats 27-17 in the fourth quarter and would go on to claim the win.
 
Key Statistics: Washburn had more points off of turnovers (17) than the Hillcats (5), and they also had more fastbreak points (22) than the Hillcats (4).
 
Players of Note: Darian Jackson tied for the second-most blocked shots in school history with six. Jackson ended the day with 10 points, shooting 5-for-10 from the field. She also recorded 12 rebounds to complete the double-double. Jackson also had three assists and a steal in her final home game as a Hillcat.
 
Lilly Garner led the Hillcats in scoring with 12, shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. She also recorded two rebounds.
 
Freshman Alyche Brown ended the day with eight points, shooting 3-for-6 from the field. She also recorded rebounds and an assist.
 
Alicia Brown ended the day with seven points. She also recorded five rebounds and two assists.
 
Up Next:  The Hillcats hit the road for the first of three-straight MIAA road games to close out the regular season. Rogers State will travel to Fort Hays State on Thursday, looking to avenge a heartbreaking loss to the Tigers in Claremore in January. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Hays.
