KEARNEY, Neb. - Rogers State women's basketball fell on the road to the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers by a score of 74-59 on Saturday at the Health and Sports Center.
How it Happened: The Lopers (25-9, 14-3 MIAA) started off hot from the floor, as they went on an early 6-0 run to begin the game, and the Hillcats (4-23, 2-16 MIAA) never led.
The Hillcats headed to the locker roomer at half trailing the Lopers 23-34.
Rogers State made a comeback bid in the second half and cut the Loper lead to three, after 
Vanessa Gajdosova drained a shot from downtown with 4:26 left in the third quarter. The two teams continued to battle for the remainder of the quarter and the Lopers led the Hillcats 50-40 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lopers outscored the Hillcats 24-19 in the final quarter and came away with a 74-59 win over the Hillcats.
Key Statistics: The Lopers outscored the Hillcats in the paint 50-22.
The Lopers hit 50 percent of their shots from the three-point line, while the Hillcats only connected on 36.4 percent of their shots from the arch.
Players of Note: Sophomore 
Samariah Thompson led the Hillcats in scoring with 22, shooting 9-for-18 from the field and 2-for-3 from the free-throw line. She also recorded three rebounds and two assists.
Senior Daren Jackson finished the day a double-double. She had 14 points,11 rebounds, four steals, and two assists.
Sophomore 
Julie Luna finished the day with nine points. She also recorded a rebound, assist, and steal.
Up Next:  Rogers State will have a week off before returning to action next Saturday when the Hillcats travel to Emporia, Kansas for the season finale. The Hillcats will close the 2019-20 season at Emporia State with a tip-off set for 1:30 p.m. against the Hornets at the William L. White Auditorium.
