TOPEKA, Kan. - The Rogers State women's track and field team opened up the indoor track & field season on Saturday at the MIAA Rust Buster, hosted by Washburn University at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.
The Hillcats placed sixth overall, scoring 10 points in the event.
Key Performances: Brianna DeAngelis led the way for the Hillcats with a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter finals. The sophomore broke the school record in the event, previously held by
Katelyn Alexander, as she crossed the line with a 10:53.09. The time was nearly four seconds faster than the previous record and also 26 seconds better than her previous best.
Elena Fries also scored in the 3,000-meter finals, taking seventh overall. The freshman ran an 11:07.17.
Hannah Anello also claimed a school record in the season opener, taking seventh overall in the 600-yard finals. Anello broke her own school record time of 1:41.66 by over three seconds, as she finished with a 1:38.50.

Up Next: Rogers State will return to action in two weeks, traveling to Pittsburg, Kansas for the Wendy's Pittsburg State Invitational. The event will take place on Saturday, January 30 and is set to begin at 2 p.m.
