PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Rogers State women's track and field team claimed two school records and an event victory Saturday afternoon at the Wendy's/PSU MIAA Challenge at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
Six Hillcats surpassed the previous school records on the day.
Key Performances: Brianna DeAngelis led a one-two-three sweep for the Hillcats in the 5,000-Meter Run as she staked claim to a new school record in the event. DeAngelis edged out teammate
Elena Fries and won the event with a time of 18:45.34, smashing the previous record by over 47 seconds.
Fries took second in the event, finishing 1.37 seconds behind DeAngelis with a time of 18:46.71.
Ashley Riggenbach completed the Hillcat sweep in the event with a time of 18:57.36, also breaking the old school record.
DeAngelis also took third in the 3,000-Meter Run with a 10:54.15, one second off of her own record in the event.
Hannah Anello also staked claim to a new record on Saturday. Anello broke her own record in the 600-Yard Run, taking fourth overall in the event with a 1:32.54, six seconds faster than her record-setting time two weeks ago in the season opener.
Jayden Lazzari (1:36.77) and
Brya Nyberg (1:37.70) also broke the previous record in the race with sixth and seventh-place finishes.

th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic. The two-day event will take place on February 12-13. Friday's races will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's races begin at noon.
