ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Rogers State men's soccer (7-3-1, 3-2 GAC/MIAA) downed Ouachita Baptist (1-7-1, 1-4 GAC/MIAA) in a 2-0 decision on Saturday.
Two Hillcats found the back of the net in the win. Callum Hubble and Grant King connected on the goals for RSU. Declan Viljoen earned his fourth shutout of the season in goal with one save.
The Hillcats dominated both sides of the ball in the opening 45 minutes as they outshot the Tigers 11-6, only allowing OBU one shot on goal. The offense wasted no time getting on the board as Hubble tapped in a ball from two yards out off a corner kick from Jordan Watson in the seventh minute to give RSU the early 1-0 lead. They would hold this lead going into the intermission.
The second half was more of the same as the Hillcats outshot OBU 16-4 in the period. King increased the lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute with a header off a pass from Zach Donohue. RSU eventually took the victory 2-0.
The Hillcats will be back in action as they return to Soldier Field on Thursday, Oct. 14 and play host to Southern Nazarene. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m.
