BOLIVAR, Mo. – Rogers State women's basketball (3-2) notched a solid road win over Southwest Baptist (2-3) in a 71-63 game on Tuesday.
Three Hillcats finished in double figures on the night. Bailey Kliewer led the squad with a career-high 23 points as well as seven rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. Vanessa Gajdosova posted 19 points with five rebounds, a rebound and a block. Jordan Lewis contributed 12 points with six rebounds, an assist and a block.
The opening quarter was tight with neither team able to get more than a two-point advantage, with two ties and six lead changes. RSU held a slim 14-13 lead going into the second quarter.
The second period started the same as the first, but the Hillcats took control with 5:43 minutes left in the half as they went on a 9-3 run to take a 29-23 lead and took a 29-26 advantage into the break.
The second half was just as close with RSU narrowly outscoring the Bearcats 18-17 in third quarter to take a 47-43 lead into the final period. The Hillcats were finally able to breakaway as they outscored SBU 24-20 for a 71-63 victory.
RSU will be back in action at the Claremore Expo Center on Saturday, Nov. 27 as they close out the non-conference against Ouachita Baptist. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
