Hillcats Close Out Preseason With Exhibition Against Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball closed out the preseason with their final exhibition game against Oral Roberts on Wednesday.

The Hillcats fell 97-63 to the Golden Eagles in the game.

Junior newcomer Jordan Lewis led RSU with 15 points to go along with four rebounds and a steal. Sophomore Bailey Kliewer was next with 12 points and a team-leading seven rebounds with two assists and a steal. Junior Vanessa Gajdosova posted eight points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Junior Julie Luna posted seven points with two rebounds and an assist. Freshman Kylee Day logged six points with two rebounds. Junior Katrina Christian and sophomore Briana Baker-Bruce both contributed five points, with Christian adding two rebounds and an assist while Baker-Bruce added a rebound and an assist. Sophomore Taryn Kelley recorded three points and a rebound. Freshman Kloe Bowin added two points, two rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal.

The Hillcats looked good in the opening 10 minutes as they shot 46 percent from the floor and only trailed ORU 24-18 after the period. They looked their best however in the third period as they nearly matched the Golden Eagles point for point in the period as they scored 23 points to ORU's 24.

On the night, RSU shot 18-for-21 from the free throw line, and made five threes to the Golden Eagles two. They finished with a total of 35 rebounds.

The Hillcats officially open the 2021-22 campaign on the road on Friday, Nov. 12 as travel to Warrensburg, Mo. for the MIAA/NSIC Challenge against Minnesota-Moorhead. Tipoff is slated for 8:30 p.m.
