CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State men's basketball team fell to Missouri Southern, 67-53, in MIAA play Saturday afternoon at the Claremore Expo.
Jordan Coblin and
Devin Pullum led the Hillcats with 17 and 15 points respectively.
The Hillcats came out of the gates on fire with a 11-2 advantage to start the contest, the largest lead of the half. The Lions answered with a 9-0 run but RSU tallied back-to-back three pointers by Coblin and
Brewster Peacock to push the Hillcats advantage to 18-11. Stan Scott evened the score with three-point play, making it 20-20 with 3:44 to play in the half. RSU closed out the stanza with a 9-3 run to take a 29-23 lead at the break.
MSSU opened the second stanza on a 14-3 run, capped by a Scott jumper that gave the Lions a 37-32 lead with 12 minutes to play. The Hillcats battled back but a four-point play by Alex Jones with three minutes remaining gave the Lions an 11-point advantage down the stretch to seal the win. Scott led all scorer with 26 points and 10 rebounds, going 10-14 from the field.
