PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Rogers State women's track & field team opened up the 6
th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic on Friday with a pair of school records at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
On top of the two school records, all eight Hillcats running on Friday night set personal best times in their events.
Key Performances: Hannah Anello started the record-setting night by beating her own record in the 600-yard run by over a second with an eighth-place finish. After setting a record on the same track two weeks ago with a 1:32.54, Anello crossed the line to lead the way for the Hillcats with a 1:31.18.
A little later in the evening, it was
Brianna DeAngelis who would break the next record, smashing her own mark in the 5,000-meter run. Like Anello, DeAngelis also broke her record which was set two weeks ago at Pittsburg State with an 18:45.34. DeAngelis recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 18:28.53, nearly 17 seconds faster than her previous record.
While DeAngelis claimed the new record,
Elena Fries (18:31.17),
Ashley Riggenbach (18:31.48) and
Gloria Butts (18:35.47) also set times that would have broken the previous record in the race.
