Men's Soccer Falls to Oral Roberts In Exhibition Game

TULSA, Okla. – The Rogers State men's soccer team opened up its season on Sunday with an exhibition game at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts.
 
The Hillcats fell to the Golden Eagles 2-0 in the only exhibition game before Rogers State begins its regular season in two weeks.
 
How It Happened: Rogers State had the first shot on goal in the game as Jaxon Pitt tested Motakef Miles, forcing a save in the bottom right corner.
 
Oral Roberts would have 10 shots in the first half but its first attempt on goal didn't come until the 41st minute, as Austin Wormell stopped a shot from Dante Brigida.
 
Just over three minutes later, Brigida would set up the opening goal with another shot that forced a save from Wormell, but just seconds later, Eugene Quaynor would score off the rebound.
 
Quaynor would set up the second goal for the Golden Eagles seven minutes into the second half, feeding Reed Berry, who doubled the lead for the hosts.
 
Oral Roberts would fire three more shots on target in the second half, but Wormell would stop all three efforts.
 
Rogers State would force a pair of corner kicks in the final 20 minutes, but were unable to get a shot off.
 
Players of Note: Wormell finished with five saves in the game. The junior played all 90 minutes for the Hillcats in goal.
 
Pitt finished with one shot. He had the only shot on goal for the Hillcats in the game.
 
Jesus Ramirez and Jordan Watson recorded the only other shots in the game for Rogers State. Ramirez and Watson each had two shots.
 
Notes from the Game: Oral Roberts outshot Rogers State 16-5 in the game. The Golden Eagles had seven shots on goal to just one for the Hillcats.
 
Rogers State forced four corner kicks in the game, while Oral Roberts had just two.
 
Rogers State led the foul count 13-9. The Hillcats also had three yellow cards.
 
Up Next: Rogers State will return to action on February 20 with the official season opener against Newman. The Hillcats will face the Jets in Wichita, Kansas with kickoff set for 3 p.m.
