KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rogers State women's golfer Jessica Green has been named the MIAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week following her victory at the Hillcat Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
 
Green led the Hillcats to a team victory in the Hillcat Classic, as she won the individual medalist honors, battling wet and extremely windy conditions, by five shots.
 
Green shot a 73 for the best round of the tournament on day one and then followed it up by shooting a 75 in round two to secure the victory with consistent play over 36 holes.
 
The junior finished in the top three in par 3, par 4 and par 5 scoring and had 28 pars, six more than the next closest competitor in the tournament.
 
The honor is the first for Green and the women's golf team from the Association this season. It is the second MIAA Golfer of the Week honor for Green, having won the award once last spring.
 
This is the fourth MIAA Golfer of the Week award won by the Women's Golf program since joining the MIAA last season.
 
Green and the rest of the Hillcats will be back in action in two weeks, playing in the Holiday Inn Express MWSU Spring Invitational on March 29-30.
