Turner Lifts Hillcats to Overtime Win Over Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. – No. 23 Rogers State men's soccer continued its perfect start to the season on Friday night, as the Hillcats won a thriller in overtime, defeating Southern Nazarene 1-0.

Highlights
  • The two teams had a back-and-forth battle for much of the contest, with neither team conceding many opportunities. Southern Nazarene had the first attempt on goal, with Juan Rodarte's shot from just outside of the penalty area in the 29th minute being saved by Dillon Dean.
  • Jordan Watson forced the first save out of Ramiro Jimenez in the 50th minute, with his effort from the right side of the penalty area denied.
  • Southern Nazarene would have a few of chances in the final 10 minutes of regulation. Nathaniel Medros had a long-range effort saved in the 83rd minute and was then denied in the 86th minute by Dean on an attempt from the edge of the penalty area.
  • Orlando Castro had an 88th minute shot from outside the penalty area on the left side stopped by Dean as the teams headed to overtime still scoreless.
  • After nearly 10 minutes of overtime without a shot from either team, Rogers State won a free kick in the offensive third with 12 seconds remaining in the frame.
  • From the right win, Callum Hubble delivered a free kick to the far side of the goal that was headed back across goal by Jarrod Copper and then flicked on by Zach Larkin to Michael Turner, who headed the ball in for the golden goal.
