MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Rogers State track & field opened up the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday with several strong performances at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
Key Performances
- Senior Nick Williams had the top performance of the weekend, running second overall in a field that included six Division I runners in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase on Saturday. Williams ran a 9:34.15, finishing 4.17 seconds off the winner. The time was just 11.23 seconds off of Williams's personal best in the event, after not running competitively in a collegiate competition in over a year.
- Brianna DeAngelis set a new school record in the 3,000-meter Run on Saturday. DeAngelis finished ninth overall, but crossed the line with a 10:50.70 to smash the previous record of 11:31.76 by over 41 seconds.
- Williams also had a top-five finish in the 5,000-meter on Friday. The senior ran to a 14:56.18, setting a new personal best with a fourth overall in a field that featured 12 Division I runners.
- DeAngelis had the top performance for the Hillcats in the 5,000-meter Run on Friday. DeAngelis led the way for RSU with a fourth-place finish in a field that included four Division I runners. DeAngelis crossed the line with a personal best of 18:24.01, just edging out teammate Ashley Riggenbach, who also finished with a personal best of 18:24.26 in fifth. Elena Fries took sixth overall with an 18:27.33.

Rogers State will return to action next week with split squad events. The Hillcats will send runners to the Texas Relays (Austin, Texas), the Bobcat Invitational (San Marcos, Texas) and the ORU Invitational (Tulsa, Okla.). The events will take place between March 24-27.
