Palmowski Qualifies for NCAA DII National Championships With 6th At NCAA Regionals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rogers State men's golf's Luke Palmowski has qualified for the NCAA DII Men's Golf National Championships after recording a sixth-place finish at the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday at Shoal Creek Golf Club.

For the third-consecutive day, Palmowski, who golfed as an individual this week, shot a round of even par, firing a 71 to move up two spots on the leaderboard.

Palmowski finished as the top individual that was not a part of the four qualifying teams from the regional, earning himself a spot in the national championships, which will be hosted at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Rotherham, England native opened up his final round on hole 10 and scored four-consecutive pars. Following a bogey on 14, the junior responded with a par and then a birdie on 16 to get back to even par. Palmowski would then record pars over the final 11 holes to finish with his third-straight 71 and a three-round total of 213.

Palmowski earned the bid to the national championships by one stroke, beating out Ryan Zetwick of Hillsdale College and Kason Cook of Southwestern Oklahoma State. Palmowski entered the day two shot behind Cook on the player leaderboard.

Palmowski is the first Hillcat to qualify for the NCAA D2 National Championships in men's golf. Rogers State's previous best was back-to-back trips to the regional championships in 2017 and 2018.

The NCAA D2 Men's Golf National Championships will take place May 17-21 at the PGA National with the three-round tournament to crown the individual champion taking place May 17-19.
